A live-action Pokemon series is coming to Netflix!

All right Pokemon fans, Netflix is set to rock our world. According to Variety, the streamer has green-lit a live action Pokemon series!

If you’re thinking it will be similar to Pikachu Detective in style, then you’d be right. As for the tone and story, that’s still hush. All we know is Lucifer co-showrunner and executive producer Joe Henderson is attached to the project.

Henderson will write for the show as well as executive produce, making this Pokemon series the second show by the creator set to come to Netflix. The other is Shadecraft, a teen horror show based on the comic book series he developed with artist Lee Garbett.

As we don’t know the live-action Pokemon show’s plot, there’s no telling if Henderson’s take will be centered on the world itself or if fans can anticipate finally seeing a live-action Ash or Red.

If we do, there’s also the question of whether we’ll start from the beginning of their stories or be setting off on an entirely new adventure. And, of course, will Pikachu be along for the ride? We have so many questions, hopefully we’ll have some answers soon.

Here’s when we could see the series arrive on Netflix.

Currently, the live-action Pokemon series is in the early stages of its development, so we can say with confidence we won’t be seeing the show in 2021. However, a late 2022 release could be in the cards if this train gets rolling soon. It all depends on how long production could take plus there’s special effects and CGI to consider.

We’re thinking the earliest we could see the show is in December 2022 as Netflix’s holiday season offering on the platform. If not then, we have our sights set on a 2023 premiere for the series.

We’ll keep you posted on more news regarding the live-action Pokemon series as it rolls in.
