During the Ubisoft Forward event in June 2023, Ubisoft Film & Television and Netflix announced more details on their forthcoming original anime series called Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which will be coming to the streaming service later this year.
If you’re an avid gamer and a fan of the Far Cry franchise, then the title “Blood Dragon” might be familiar to you. The new series is inspired by the Far Cry 3 expansion of the same name. But the show is about much more than just Far Cry, as it will feature many alter egos of iconic Ubisoft characters, and the entire project serves as an homage to the ’90s, complete with tons of fun references and easter eggs.

We’ve got at least a few months before the anime hits Netflix. Captain Laserhawk is slated to hit the streaming service sometime this fall, but Netflix hasn’t announced the official release date yet.
Here is the official synopsis, courtesy of Netflix’s press release:
"The year is 1992. The country formerly known as the USA is now called Eden, a technocracy ruled by propaganda and corruption. Super-soldier Dolph Laserhawk has just been betrayed by the love of his life and locked up in Eden’s top security prison Supermaxx. He must now lead a team of rebel outcasts on risky undercover missions in order to survive. CAPTAIN LASERHAWK: A BLOOD DRAGON REMIX is an original anime series mixing alternative Ubisoft characters in a highly referenced homage to the early 90s."
The series will feature six episodes.
In addition to creating the show, Castlevania producer Adi Shankar will voice Red from the Niji Six in the show, inspired by Rainbow Six Siege. “Balak” will voice an assassin character called Bullfrog, inspired by the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and Witcher: Blood Origin star Nathaniel Curtis voices Dolph Laserhawk. Additional characters include Boris Hiestand (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) as Alex.
Another exciting addition to the cast is Watch Dogs 2 protagonist Marcus Holloway, who will be featured in the anime, voiced by Dead Island 2 alum Mark Ebulué.
