Even though Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson) saved the world from a Biotek invasion in the season one finale of Future Man, the future still isn’t safe. Teasers for the sci-fi comedy’s return have revealed that the new timeline is just as tragic as the last, if not more.
The latest trailer introduced Susan (Seth Rogen) to Josh as a greeter giving him an orientation on the new future. We don’t get to hear any additional dialogue but the shocked look on Josh’s face tells us something bad has happened. Luckily, we don’t have to guess anymore.
Warning! Spoilers for Future Man Season 2 follow. You’ve been warned.
Since the episode synopses have been released, we have more than a few pieced together montages from the trailers to go off of. Each synopsis isn’t extremely revealing but they’ve provided us with a few facts about the upcoming season of Future Man.
The synopses for Episodes 1-4 are as follows:
Countdown To Prologue (Season 2, Episode 1) Synopsis:
"Josh is kidnapped by Athena, a member of a secret terrorist organization called the Pointed Circle; his mission to save the world didn’t work; Stu Camillo, now in power, created the cure, and humanity is more divided than ever — and it’s 2162."
Apparently, Josh will be kidnapped by a new antagonist called Athena (Katherina LaNasa). She works for an organization known as the Pointed Circle — presumably one of the entities controlled by Stu Camillo (Haley Joel Osment). Oh yeah, Stu is a very powerful man in the future.
The I Of The Tiger (Season 2, Episode 2) Synopsis:
"Tiger and Wolf arrive in the future they created; Tiger is not welcome in the NAG — the New Above Ground — so she heads to the Mons, where she learns humanity is moving to Mars, her DNA created the cure, and Stu Camillo is alive in hologram form."
The synopsis for episode two appears to give fans a look at Tiger (Eliza Coupe) and Wolf (Derek Wilson) when they arrive in the new future. At the same time, this probably means episode one will focus solely on Josh’s character-arc.
It also reveals that Stu isn’t actually alive in the future — a hologram is all that remains. The image could be manipulated by someone else but the hologram likely has a mind of its own.
The final aspect we can confirm is Tiger plays an even more integral role in the future wars, she’s just not welcome in her own regiment. She’s supposedly the source of the cure and rejected by the NAG, the New Above Ground. Tiger may try to prove herself to the NAG but teaming up with Josh and Wolf is more likely.

A Wolf In The Torque House (Season 2, Episode 3) Synopsis:
"Wolf is mistaken for Torque — the Wolf in this timeline — and he goes with it, learning about the NAG and its six-parent families and hatred of technology; Wolf tries to escape, but the appeal of this new world makes it hard for him to leave."
In episode three, Wolf will assume the role of his doppelganger, Torque. Details are scare but a covert operation into the NAG will take place. The episode description makes it sound like Wolf is alone but there’s a good chance that Josh will be by his side.
How that mission will play out is still up for debate but glimpses of Wolf meeting his multiple wives in the promos give us the impression that his new life will be more complicated than he thinks.
Guess Who’s Coming To Lunch (Season 2, Episode 4) Synopsis:
"As Tiger gets to know her doppelganger Ty-Anne, Wolf acclimates to the NAG and Josh wanders the desert; Josh is brought to the NAG and remanded to indentured servitude as a technology smasher; Tiger sneaks into the NAG and wants out of this timeline."
According to the episode four synopsis, Tiger will also meet her doppelganger. Ty-Anne presumably isn’t a member of the NAG so her occupation is of much interest. She could be working for the Pointed Circle or simply a renegade. Either way, Ty-Anne is going to play an important role.
The other detail this synopsis reveals is that Tiger will sneak into the NAG to leave the timeline. This probably means the dystopian future they created was just too much for Tiger to handle. And while Tiger presumably wants to leave, she won’t leave Wolf and Josh to fend for themselves.
So as to not spoil the entirety of season two, we’ll leave the rest of Future Man’s synopses for fans to break down for themselves. They’re listed on the following page.
