Before his breakthrough film Rocky came in 1976, the American celebrity had to try his luck as an extra or side character for almost seven years. Even after his sky-rocketing fame, Sly’s personal life had more agony to unfold as he lost his firstborn Sage Stallone.

Sylvester Stallone lost his 36-year-old son Sage Stallone in 2012 and a number of stars appeared for the mourning which was led by Sly himself. While initial reports alleged that the rising actor had passed away due to a suspected drug overdose, later the coroner’s report revealed the reason for his unfortunate demise: a massive heart attack that turned fatal.
Sylvester opened up about his pain after the death of his first son as he urged fans to respect the memory of his son. “Because when a parent loses a child there is no greater pain,” he added, “Therefore I am imploring people to respect my wonderfully talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother, Sasha, because this agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace.”
A look at Sage Stallone’s rising career
Sage chose to walk in the path of his father and debuted in films with Rocky V in 1990 alongside Sly. The late actor also ventured into producing and writing years later as he wrote and produced multiple short films including Vic and The Agent and won the “Best New Filmmaker” award at the 2006 Boston Film Festival for Vic.
His last two works included Promises Written in Water and The Agent. Both films were competing in the 2010 Venice Film Festival and in the Toronto International Film Festival.
