Who is Mark Blum in You season 3?

You season 3 dropped on Netflix on Oct. 15 and, without giving anything away, let’s just say that Netflix and You creative team outdid themselves with this season which might arguably be considered the show’s best season yet.

From the very first episode, the show came out swinging — as did Love — with an intense episode that set the tone for the entire season while also laying the groundwork for the start of what would become a very tangled web.

While the premiere gave us plenty to talk about, it’s likely the post-episode title card that caught your attention, lead you to Google, and finally here for information about the identity of the individual to whom the premiere was dedicated to.

Following the closing scene in the You season 3 premiere, a special tribute appeared honoring Mark Blum which has led many to wonder what his connection to the show is. So who exactly is Mark Blum and what is his connection to You?

If the name Mark Blum sounds familiar, it’s likely because he’s an actor with a career spanning several decades with many roles in both television and film. Among Blum’s many credits was a role in the first season of You where he played Mr. Mooney, the surrogate father of Joe Goldberg.

Sadly, Blum passed away in March 2020 from complications of COVID-19 at the age of 69. Thus the title card at the end of premiere paying tribute to Blum was designed as a way to celebrate and honor the late actor.

Although Blum is only credited for appearing in four episodes of You, his character left quite a lasting impact on the show and in shaping Joe.

You season 3 is streaming now on Netflix.
