A group of municipal employees are brutally murdered one by one during a company retreat in Netflix’s darkly comic Swedish slasher The Conference. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Patrik Eklund, The Conference is based on book of the same name by bestselling Scandinavian horror writer Mats Strandberg. Cold Prey writer Thomas Moldestad penned the script. Strandberg also serves as an executive producer on the film.
This zany, blood-soaked slasher movie starts out as a seemingly normal professional retreat, albeit one marred by workplace politics and accusations of corruption among the leadership. What starts as a tedious work exercise soon becomes the worst team-building training ever when a masked figure emerges and starts killing everyone.

The Conference revolves around an ensemble cast, but Lina is more or less the film’s protagonist. Returning to her job after an extensive sick leave caused by being overworked and stressed, Lina still has doubts about the leadership and believes there might be corruption afoot.
Katia Winter is a Swedish actress who has appeared in more than ten television shows and 29 movies. American viewers might recognize her as Katrina Crane in the FOX series Sleepy Hollow or Nadia in Dexter. She’s also appeared in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, NCIS, and Prime Video’s The Boys. Most recently, she starred in the dramedy film The Year I Started Masturbating, which is streaming on Netflix, as is her indie sports drama Off Track. Next, she’ll star in the upcoming Finnish drama miniseries Estonia about the sinking of the MS Estonia ferry.
Besides the actual killer, Jonas is the primary antagonist. He’s been keeping some shady secrets regarding the company and their plans to build a shopping mall, secrets Lina is intent on discovering.
Actor Adam Lundgren most recently starred in the thriller series Kapningen and the Netflix Original Clark, which featured Bill Skarsgård in the title role of the notorious Swedish gangster Clark Olofsson. He’ll play next star in the upcoming war drama Konvoi, about the sailors who faced off against Hitler’s troops in the Arctic Sea.
